Alteras Interview

We caught up with Alteras, a metal band from Youngstown Ohio. You can check out their album "Grief" on ITunes now! Read below for the interview.

Q: How long has the band been together?
A:Alteras has been together since around 2009, but this line up has been together for around 3 years.

Q: How did you come up with your band name?
A: Alteras is Latin/Spanish roughly translated to: you change/alter

Q: What's the inspiration behind your album "Grief"?
A:Grief was written about the stages of grief one goes through when losing someone.

Q: Describe your writing process.
A: The writing process recently has been very interesting. One of us will come up with a riff or melody or even a concept and present it to the rest of the members. From there everyone else will add their bit and the song will begin to take form. It's very cool to watch something like that grow.

Q: What's the basis of your new single "Best Mistake"?
A: Best Mistake is a song that has a different meaning to each member of the band. It's quickly become one of our favorites for multiple reasons, but being that each of us have our own description of what it means to us adds a magnitude of different layers.

Q: What's your biggest musical inspiration?
A: We have all been around music our entire lives, and our inspirations vary. We all have certain bands that have had great impact on us such as: Bring Me The Horizon, Underoath, Armor For Sleep, The Wonder Years, etc. (The list is infinitely large) But more importantly we are inspired by a lot of other things, such as life and experiences we've had together or even alone. On top of that we have to give credit to family or loved ones to introduced us to music.

Q: Is there a band you haven't toured with yet, but would like to in the future?
A: Our dream tour would be with a super group consisted of Beyonce, Steven Tyler, and Freddie Mercury as the front men, Randy Roads, and Slash on Guitar, Flee on bass, and both John Bonham and Dave Grohl on drums.

Q: How do you protect your voice on tour?
A: It is so easy to get sick and lose your voice on the road, so we go through great lengths to keep our voices strong. Everyday we do our best to stay hydrated, and warm up our voices with scales and making other crazy noises.

Q: Can we expect to hear any new music soon?
A: New music is being worked on everyday. We released our latest single "Best Mistake" to give everyone a taste of whats to come. So keep an eye out for that in the future!
